Olympia Farmhouse

Delphi House - pen and ink with watercolor, 10 x 8

Last year, I was commissioned to create a portrait of this charming 100-year-old farmhouse. Located in the Olympia area, it was the home of my clients when their three boys were very young. Years later after moving away and their boys now adults, they wanted a portrait to give to each of their sons for Christmas.

Old family photos were provided for reference, and I was also able to find more photos of the home on Zillow as the home had recently been listed for sale. I created the original in pen and ink and watercolor, then had three giclee prints made of the artwork for my clients to give to their sons.

Now that Christmas is over, and the chance of them stumbling upon images of their Christmas gift is no longer a concern, I'm happy to share this latest home portrait on my gallery!

Home Portrait

This newest home portrait was commissioned by Issaquah real estate agent, Dan Edwards of Northstone Real Estate as a gift for his client. This home had a unique feature that was fun to paint. A pond complete with Koi and three mini waterfalls!

This custom portrait, rendered in pen and ink with watercolor measures 10 x 8. If you have a unique home that you would love to have captured as a portrait, or know of someone who would enjoy receiving a gift of a portrait of their home, please contact me and I'll be delighted to work with you to create a house portrait of your very own!

Issaquah Portrait #1, The Hailstone Feed Store

In addition to creating custom home portraits, I love creating portraits of historical buildings and landmarks. I have just recently completed a series of seven portraits of well-known and well-loved Issaquah landmarks. I'd love to share them with you! The first portrait in the series is of the charming Hailstone Feed Store. If you live in the Issaquah area, you have most likely seen this old Shell gas station as you drive into downtown Issaquah.

"Hailstone Feed Store, Issaquah", 8 x 10, watercolor with pen & ink

This unique building located on Front Street, may have been originally constructed as a residence in the late 1890’s. In the following years, it was used as a warehouse and a grocery store until 1941 when the Hailstone family purchased the building. In 1942 it reopened as the Hailstone Feed Store and Shell Gasoline Station. Family members operated the business until 1966 and the feed store remained in operation under various owners until 1990. Today, the building is owned by the City of Issaquah. In the mid-2000’s it was restored to replicate its 1940’s appearance. The gas pumps are no longer in use, but the shop has been used to maintain vintage vehicles and the main room is available as a rental facility to the community.

If you would like to see this portrait in person, along with the other six portraits and myself, please come to the Sammamish Arts Fair where I will be exhibiting my work. This original portrait is matted and framed and available for purchase and is also available in a matted giclee print which includes a certificate of Authenticity.

The Sammamish Arts Fair is on Saturday and Sunday, October 13 and 14 from 10am to 5pm each day. There will be 30 other local artists showing their work and there will also be activities for the kids as well as music and refreshments. Admission is absolutely free! The Arts Fair will be located at the Sammamish City Hall at 801 228th Ave. SE, Sammamish. Hope to see you there!
